SINGAPORE: A total of S$7.5 million has been set aside to provide 250,000 public transport vouchers of S$30 each to needy families.
This is out of the S$13.5 million contributed by SMRT and SBS Transit to the Public Transport Fund for the 2014 fare review exercise.
Mr Lui was responding to questions posed by MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Gan Thiam Poh to consider extending special transport vouchers to more Singaporeans.
“The Government also has plans for the remaining amount in the Public Transport Fund, and we will announce the details when we are ready to do so,” said the minister.
“I spent $5 every day on my transport,” said Mdm Ani, 78 a cleaner.
“One week, $30 habis!” she added.
