It’s a girlish film bro….
CHICAGO: A university student charged with sexually assaulting a fellow student allegedly claimed he was re-enacting scenes from the Fifty Shades of Grey film.
Mohammad Hossain used belts to restrain his alleged victim during the attack on Saturday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The bionuclear engineering student took the woman back to his dormitory room and told her to strip for him. He then bound her legs and hands to a bed before attacking her, according to the paper.
He hit her several times, the Assistant State’s Attorney Sarah Karr was reported as saying. The woman reportedly responded by telling him to stop and “began shaking her head and crying”, to which he hit her repeatedly with a belt and his fists. Hossain then allegedly sexually assaulted her.
When his roommate arrived and attempted to open the door, Hossain held it shut. His alleged victim was eventually allowed to leave and contacted police.
He reportedly told police he and the woman were re-enacting a scenes from the Fifty Shades film.
Hossain’s lawyer Sandra Bennewitz told a Cook County criminal court judge that her client was “involved with several UIC leadership programs, was a student ambassador to the alumni association and was on the triathlon team”.
“Sandra, how can someone involved in all that let a movie persuade him to do something like this?” asked Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr.
“He would say that it was consensual,” she replied, according to the Tribune.
Hossain was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
“I hate to imagine what would have happened to the woman had he been a fan of Nat Geo Wild,” said Tony Tze, 45, a photojournalist.
