SINGAPORE: Former MP and Presidential candidate Dr Tan Cheng Bok was seen at Tanjong Pagar CC this afternoon with his entourage to pay his last respects to the late Lee Kuan Yew.
However, an onlooker told us that he hurriedly left the CC without entering the hall after seeing the large crowd queueing outside. He also did not stop to chat with any of the well-wishers.
The onlooker, who wanted to be anonymous said that he was very dismayed with Dr Tan’s behaviour.
“He came surrounded by this large entourage as though he is a big shot,” he said.
“I thought he is a very approachable person, but obviously he is not.”
“And what made me very sad was that he did not even enter the hall to pay his respects.”
“If he was sincere, he would have done so despite the large crowd that was present.”
“How to become our President like that if he cannot tahan a big crowd?” he added.
