…or they will have one full day to riot…
This Sunday (May 24) will be a state public holiday in Kelantan – the day after Kelantan FC’s meeting with Singapore’s LionsXII in the FA Cup final in Kuala Lumpur.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob said this was to allow Kelantan’s football supporters to return in comfort after watching the FA Cup final match at National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, on May 23.
“The Kelantan state government is prioritising the safety of Kelantan football supporters who will watch the match in Kuala Lumpur,” he said. “Drive safely on the road and don’t race as you have a lot of time for the return journey,” he said in statement on Tuesday.
He also called on Kelantan football supporters to show a high sportsmanship spirit while watching the FA Cup final.
Ahmad’s comments came after Trengganu Football fans ran riot at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium following their team’s failure to qualify for the final on May 16. They went out on away goals rule, after the 4-4 aggregate score against LionsXII.
Before Trengganu, Kelantan supporters were infamous for hooliganism.
