In Singapore at least, nothing is for free. Well perhaps the air that we breathe but if the government could find a way to make money out of it, they would.
Lawrence Wong, the Minister for Culture, etc, said that he was proud of the volunteers who had worked hard behind the scenes for the SEA Games. He said this when he kicked off the festivities for the torch parade, which took the torch on a route from The Promontory @ Marina Bay to the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza. About 3,000 people turned up to watch the parade, which was dedicated to Games volunteers.
For the volunteers, we sincerely say thank you. Your dedication will be rewarded by goodie bags, selfies and bragging rights that you were involved in the SEA games.
For the government who has saved tonnes of money, for goodness sake, give the volunteers better meals than the soggy airline food that you gave out during the YOG.
