Safety First – Color Run Event On Hold Pending Safety Checks

Is she wearing stockings or…..?

There is an old Chinese saying which says: `bad things happen in threes.’

Following an incident over the weekend, where a dust explosion involving coloured cornstarch injured hundreds of partygoers at a Taiwan water park, the Singapore Police and Civil Defence will be conducting safety checks on the flammability of the colourant to be used in the annual Color Run to be held in Singapore on Aug 22 and 23 before issuing the permit.

This will the fifth year that the event will be organised which means that for the past four years, no checks were being conducted on the safe use of the colourant.

This is not surprising though because the SCDF are fire-fighters by training and they always do what they do best; fire fighting.

Meanwhile some of the potential participants have decided to cancel their plans after realising that running under the hot sun whilst being splashed in flammable colourant is not only messy, meaningless, childish, wasteful and environmentally-unfriendly, but also deadly.
