End of the road…..?
One allegation after another. One misstep after another. In most other civilised countries, the PM who is the target of the embarrasing allegations would have stepped aside because it would have been near impossible to run a country with all the damaging distractions.
But this is Malaysia we are talking about. A country with the tagline Malaysia Boleh! (Malaysia anything can!)
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) is the latest to join in the party. In its latest article, they alleged that they have traced nearly US$700 million of deposits from a government investment arm 1MDB into what they believe are personal bank accounts of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
The money trail looks like this:
Meanwhile, Sarawak Report said a total of US$681,999,976 (RM2.6 billion) was wire transferred by the Abu Dhabi fund Aabar into the Najib’s private AmBank account in Kuala Lumpur on March 2013, two months before the May 5, 2013 general election.
Sarawak Report also said that another RM42 million had been transferred from SRC International Sdn Bhd, a company linked to 1MDB which is now under the Finance Ministry, into Najib’s three private accounts at AmPrivate Banking in Kuala Lumpur as recently as five months ago.
“The money taken from SRC International is a particularly shocking revelation, because this was money lent by the public pension fund KWAP (CPF) and never accounted for,” Sarawak Reportsaid.
Meanwhile, former PM Dr M has turned the screws on Najib. In his latest blog post, Dr M asked whether the income tax department had ever assesed Najib’s true worth. He also wondered if the income tax department had ever look into the extraordinary wealth of Najib’s son.
Dr M also said that after 25 years as the PM, he (Dr M) could not possible save the amount of money that Najib is squandering now.
The opposition parties and political commentators are having a field day after these revelations with some urging the King to intervene.
Finally we leave you all with this video that has left a lot of Malaysians flabbergasted. It’s a video showing arguably the most hated woman in Malaysia, PM Najib’s wife getting someone to put on her shoes.
Either she is too haughty, or too fat to see her own feet.
